Egoic Posession - Short Essay

I knew a man once that was possessed of selfish entities called “egos”. Their intent was to accomplish their own purposes no matter the expense to the other egos or to the soul of the man. Pulling him this way and that, the man’s soul suffered a type of spiritual asphyxiation.

One day, the man was able to get out of the egoic forest and he saw his soul as bright as the sun suffering in their shade. That was all it took.

From that point on, as long as he kept his eye on his soul rather than whichever ego was loudest at the moment, his soul breathed in growth and the man himself knew joy. The egos still exist, but they are no longer in charge. The man’s soul uses the ego, rather than the other way around.

And the soul walks unencumbered.
