Mefined (Poem)

Mefined

I am alone on this earth.
I am a ronin.
I am a wanderer.
I am a seeker.
I am an observer.
I am a witness.
I am a seer.
I am a god.
I am a devil.
I am a teacher.
I am a student.
I am a lover.
I am a Lover.
I love.

Trailing behind me are stars and scars.
I will be held accountable.
I am innocent of all charges.
I am guilty of death.
I will dismember.
I will heal.
I will hold one tight and drop another into the fire.
I am simple and complex.
I run and do not understand.
I walk and see all.
I sit still and comprehend the universe behind my eyes and in the past and in the present and in the fucking future of myself and of you and of all mankind.
I do not take drugs.
At least not often.
And I will one day walk to the top of the stairs and I will meet a man there that looks like me but with even kinder eyes and then I will know that all those adventures taken below were done by the same me that stands in front of me and that thanks me for every breath, for every death and for every moment of every emotion of every wish and damned and goddamned desire that arose and for what I allowed or disallowed from it.

My life, after all, was lived.
